NCOC has further extended the closure of educational institutes

Pakistan’s command and control center for the Covid-19 pandemic, National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), on Thursday (9th September) has decided to extend the closure of all educational institutions in districts with high coronavirus prevalence till September 15, ARY News reported on Thursday.

The decision of the extension of closure of educational institutes was taken in NCOC meeting with Planning Minister Asad Umar in the chair.

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has also decided to prolong several extra non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) for one week in districts with high coronavirus incidence in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad.

According to a notification issued by the NCOC, limitations imposed till September 12 have been extended until September 15 in 15 districts of Punjab:

  • Rawalpindi.
  • Lahore.
  • Gujrat.
  • Gujranwala.
  • Sheikhupura.
  • Sialkot.
  • Faisalabad.
  • Sargodha.
  • Khushab.
  • Mianwali.
  • Bhakkar.
  • Khanewal.
  • Multan.
  • Bahawalpur.
  • Rahim Yar Khan.

Eight KP districts:

  • Peshawar.
  • Swabi.
  • Malakand.
  • Swat.
  • Haripur.
  • Abbottabad.
  • Mansehra.
  • Dera Ismail Khan.

As per the restrictions put forward by the NCOC, all outdoor and indoor gatherings, as well as intercity public transportation, will be prohibited, while indoor gyms and educational institutions will stay closed.

On Thursday (9th September), the NCOC team, along with Assistant Commissioners Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), toured several regions of the city to ensure that COVID-19 Standards Operating Procedures (SOPs) were followed at educational institutions.

The commissioners along with the NCOC team visited the areas:

  • G-15.
  • G-11.
  • H-8.
  • Bhara Kahu.

The Assistant Commissioners imposed fines and sealed the areas, mainly private schools of various areas that were opened despite clear instructions.

The NCOC on Thursday said that as many as 84 deaths along with 4,062 new cases have been reported in the past 24 hours. In addition, NCOC said that the death toll has risen to 26,497 with 84 more people under the effect of the viral disease.
