PM Imran Khan Orders Gas Supply To The Export Industry

Prime Minister Imran Khan asked the Ministry of Energy on Tuesday to guarantee that the export industry receives the largest gas supply possible.

While presiding over a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, the prime minister issued the directions.

According to sources, federal ministers questioned the stoppage of gas supply to the export industry during a cabinet meeting convened by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Federal ministers, while expressing their concerns said, “Suspension of supply of gas to the export industry will affect country’s export.”

Energy Minister Hammad Azhar addressed the cabinet on the current state of gas supply to companies and the steps his ministry is taking to address the problem.

The prime minister also constituted a three-member committee and asked Hammad Azhar to assure gas supply to export sectors. The committee includes: 

  • Shaukat Tarin.
  • Hammad Azhar.
  • Razzak Dawood.

Fawad Chaudhry, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, on the other hand, requested the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to issue a tender for the procurement of electronic voting equipment on Tuesday.

Furthermore, he told the media that the “Cabinet has tasked Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Information Technology to assist ECP for purchase of 4000 voting machines in connection with upcoming local government elections in Islamabad.”
