Government Declares 12th Rabi Ul Awal As A National Holiday

The government declared the 12th of Rabi Awal a national holiday on Friday, 15 October.

As per the notification issued by the Cabinet Division, it has been notified that “Tuesday, October 19, 2021, shall be a public holiday on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12th Rabi ul Awal 1443 AH) throughout the country.”

The Sindh government had declared a holiday in honor of the anniversary just two days before the official announcement of the Cabinet Division.

On October 7, the moon for the holy month of Rabi ul Awal was spotted in Pakistan.

PM inaugurated celebrations of Rabi ul Awal

Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the official Rabi ul Awal celebrations at the Rehmatul-lil-Alameen Conference in Islamabad on Sunday (17 October).

The prime minister stated that the 12th Rabi ul Awal will be observed in a suitable way with tremendous enthusiasm and zeal, with celebrations being held across the country.

PM Imran Khan stated during a high-level meeting regarding the preparations that the ceremony, which will take place in Islamabad, will be a “historic” event.

  • Civil society members.
  • Journalists.
  • Members of minority communities.
  • Federal Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz.
  • Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry.
  • Minister of Education and Professional Development Shafqat Mehmood.

Pillion riding prohibited on Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH)

As part of the security precautions for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), the authorities banned pillion riding in Sindh on Monday.

On October 19, a ban on pillion riding was implemented in all cities, according to a notification issued by the home department.

According to the notification, “Against the backdrop of numerous threat alerts of disruption of law and order during various events of Rabi ul Awal, there is a need for imposing a ban under Section 144 Cr.PC on pillion riding for one day on 12th Rabi ul Awal 1443 Hijri i.e. October 19, 2021.”

Women, children under the age of 12, older citizens, uniformed law enforcement/security personnel, employees of critical services, and journalists who display their press card/service card will be exempt from the prohibition, according to the home department.
