Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday (13 October) recommended in a meeting that a special zone in the Margalla hills ought to be named as leopard preservation zone while giving his approval in principle to the National Climate Change Policy 2021 and the National Wildlife Policy 2021.
The Prime Minister approved the development of a Wildlife Information Centre at Islamabad’s Marghazar Zoo while chairing the third meeting of the Committee on Climate Change here.
According to the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board, the leopard population in the Margalla hills is rising, and they are frequently sighted by trail users. The specific leopard zone will provide a healthy ecosystem for the predators who live in the highlands permanently.
The Prime Minister ordered the creation of a think tank to coordinate efforts amongst several departments and come up with novel climate change mitigation ideas. Furthermore, he said that Pakistan’s legitimacy as a “Green Champion” had been established by the party’s flagship Ten Billion Tree program, which was launched by the party’s leadership in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa.
Imran Khan said that the world community has been appreciating Pakistan’s pragmatic and tangible actions to alleviate the effects of climate change. Moreover, he asked the Ministry of Climate Change to reassess benchmarks and set new goals to expedite the steps needed to protect the environment.
In addition, he underlined the importance of inducting skilled staff and utilizing current technologies to preserve the country’s national parks. He also praised Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam’s efforts to protect the environment.

Celebrations of 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal
Prime Minister Imran Khan stated on Wednesday that the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal will be commemorated with fire and fervor, and that ceremony will be held across the country to commemorate the occasion.
The Prime Minister, while chairing a high-level meeting on celebrating Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAWW) with full religious zeal and fervor, stated that Eid Milad-un-Nabi will be celebrated in a befitting manner and that the largest ceremony in Pakistan’s history will be held in Islamabad to commemorate this day.
