Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is installing camping pods

To help tourists in the region, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) plans to establish camping pods in ten more picturesque locations.

Director-General Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) Kamran Ahmad Afridi stated that glamping pods at five different tourist places have been already completed and these glamping pods have attracted a huge number of tourists to the beautiful places. He added that the work on the other five is in progress which would be completed and opened for the tourists next month.

Mr. Kamran Ahmad Afridi said that the locations where the glamping pods were being introduced included Alai in Battagram, Kalash valley in Chitral, Mahbanr, Malika, and Shaheed Sar in Buner.

The glamping pods would be also introduced in:

  • Lashkargas in Broghil.
  • Sarlaspur valleys in Upper Chitral.
  • Alpuri valley in Shangla.
  • Samana Top in Hangu.
  • Kumrat in Upper Dir.
  • Laram Top and Binshahi valleys in Lower Dir.
  • Jarogo waterfall.
  • Kalam valley.
  • Solatanr in Swat.

The Director-General also said that the work on other tourism-related projects has been also commenced and Rs 6 billion have been allocated for the projects. He added that 13 places road work had been also begun alongside establishing tourist information and facilitation centers.

Mr. Kamran Ahmed Afridi said that with World Bank’s help, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development Project (KITE) has established container-based tourist facilitation centers in Mansehra, Chitral, Abbottabad, and Upper Dir along with the Rescue 1122.

After the completion of the project, the visitors would be able to avail themselves of facilities in an emergency at these beautiful locations. The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) would likewise build up pre-assembled washrooms at 22 spots for easy access by visitors.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has already introduced glamping pods with two to four bedrooms in some visitor spots including:

  • Yakh Tangai in Shangla.
  • Sheikh Badin in Lakki Marwat. 
  • Bishigram.
  • Gabin Jabba in Swat.
  • Sharan in Kaghan.
  • Thandiani in Abbottabad.  
  • Bamburet in Chitral.

The tent villages and glamping pods have already been refurbished and opened for visitors.

The glamping pods could entertain around 40 to 50 visitors at one time. The visitors can also have an access to the kitchen and playland for kids.
