PM to inaugurate 66 new NADRA offices today

Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate 66 new NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) offices on 13th August (today) along with new mobile applications for issuance of identity cards and work permits to foreigners and also for verification of vaccination certificates.

PM Imran Khan added that he will also inaugurate 90 new mobile registration vans in order to take NADRA’s outreach to Tehsils.

He had announced the launch of alien identity cards and work permits for foreigners who had been residing in the country for years; this would include them in the financial and social industries of Pakistan, and would also allow them and their families to establish their own businesses.

Furthermore, they would easily be able to get admissions in private educational institutions, go for private employments, buy mobile SIMs, open bank accounts, register vehicles, and carry out other basic sales purchases. The holders of these cards would fall under the Foreign Act, hence would have added protection against legal action.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also announced the launch of a mobile application COVID-19 Vaccination Pass which would verify COVID-19 vaccination certificates; this would help in abolishing the practice of fake certificates being created and used.

Organizations, airports, and other agencies would be able to validate the authenticity of the document by scanning the QR code on the vaccination certificate through the app and would immediately receive all necessary information such as their name, passport number, etc. This app will be an efficient method of confirming the legitimacy of documents of citizens traveling both within Pakistan and abroad.

Another development being made is the introduction of the latest NADRA system based on artificial intelligence that would detect fake identity cards through their pre-existing database. The newly appointed NADRA Chairman Tariq Malik designed this system in a short span of time in order to take a step towards putting an end to the practice of creating counterfeit identity cards.
The PM stated that the only way to rid the country of fraud within the society and elections was through the synchronization of data and technology.

“As soon as electronic voting machines come, we will tally NADRA’s data with them,” he said, further adding that it would lead to the elimination of common rigging methods utilized during elections, such as fake ID cards being used to cast votes several times over.

PM Imran Khan stated that electronic voting would lead to the country finally having fair and just elections, fit for the 21st century.
