On 20th July, Noor Mukadam, daughter of a former ambassador, was brutally murdered by her ‘friend’ Zahir Jaffer around 7 pm in F-7, one of the poshest areas of Islamabad.
According to the forensic reports released on Wednesday, more shocking details were put forward as to what happened prior to the murder; Zahir Jaffer had raped and tortured Noor Mukadam.
Zahir Jaffer’s DNA was matched with deceased Noor Mukadam’s, and according to certain sources, Zahir Jaffer’s fingerprints also matched the ones on the knife used to murder Noor Mukadam.
The forensic reports also made clear that the man and woman seen in the CCTV footage were in fact Noor Mukadam and Zahir Jaffer. According to certain sources, the CCTV footage around Zahir Jaffer’s house showed Noor Mukadam jumping off the terrace from the first floor of the house and running into the guardhouse to hide, from where Zahir Jaffer reportedly dragged her back into the house.
According to Interior Minister, Sheikh Rashid, the accused Zahir Jaffer along with all those considered to be complicit in the murder have been placed on the ECL (Exit Control List); these include Zahir Jaffer’s parents, Zakir and Asmat Jaffer along with three of their domestic workers.
Some further sources have put forward even more disturbing details, of how Zahir Jaffer was mutilating Noor Mukadam’s body and how he had allegedly mutilated her breasts. Was he torturing her prior to her murder or had he been disfiguring her body post-killing her? This is not yet confirmed however the postmortem reports did state that Noor’s body had torture wounds all over.

Some sources have put forward their own experiences of how Zahir Jaffer reportedly used to send them explicit messages back in 2013, of how he would “slice off their breasts”, and other unrestrained messages that were not short of harassment.

Does this prove that Zahir Jaffer’s behavior was being harbored and nurtured by his family for years? Had they stepped up then, could Noor Mukadam have been saved?
