Kamyab Pakistan Program to bring 3 million families out of poverty

Shaukat Tarin, the Federal Minister of Finance and Revenue, held a meeting with Dr. Sania Nishtar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Social Protection & Poverty Alleviation, on Wednesday 10th August, at the Finance Division.

Tarin stated that 3 million impoverished families will be able to break the poverty circle through the distribution of various KPP products, worth Rs.1600 billion, within the next three to five years. This program is one of the largest in the world using a ‘bottom-up approach’ by providing lower-income groups with lesser-cost housing schemes and giving access to agricultural and business loans at zero mark-ups without collateral.

Moreover, Tarin added that in order to guarantee transparency, the potential beneficiaries will only be connected through the Ehsaas NSER database. He also discussed the considerations for KPP and elaborated that NSER of the Ehsaas program was to be the basis of the whole program which will effectively handle the disbursement of finances and correctly provide micro-loans to the specific clients, thus helping to ensure transparency.
