Khalid Mansoor replaces Asim Bajwa as SAPM for CPEC.

Prime Minister Imran Khan appointed Khalid Mansoor, former CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of HUBCO (Hub Power Company) as Special Assistant on CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) Affairs on Tuesday (3rd August) as Lt Gen (retired) Asim Saleem Bajwa stepped down from his post.


Asim Saleem Bajwa has stepped down from his post on the completion of two-year-long tenure. Shahbaz Gill (PM’s Special Assistant on Political Communication) announced on his Twitter account that Khalid Mansoor will be running CPEC Authority affairs. The shared notification by Shahbaz Gill from the office of the Prime Minister said that the appointment will be in an honorary capacity.

Asad Umar, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives also thanked Asim Saleem Bajwa for his service and welcomed Khalid Mansoor to the team as SAPM (Special Assistant to Prime Minister) for CPEC Affairs on Twitter.

The Prime Minister has nominated Khalid Mansoor as his Special Assistant on CPEC Affairs, according to a statement from the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives. Mansoor has worked with a variety of firms in the petroleum, petrochemicals, and fertilizer industries for over four decades. He will oversee CPEC’s second phase, which will focus on industrial collaboration.

Asim Bajwa also tweeted on Twitter related to this news and thanked Allah for providing him with the opportunity. He appreciated the support he received from the Prime Minister. Bajwa also gave his best wishes to Khalid Mansoor:

According to Khalid Mansoor’s profile on the website of Engro Group of Companies’, he has specialized in Chemical Engineering. Khalid Mansoor has also served as the CEO of AOA (Algeria Oman Fertilizer Company). Before this, he was serving as the President and CEO of Engro Fertilizers Limited, EPL (Engro Powergen Limited), and SECMC (Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company)

Mansoor has also served on the board of directors of the OICCI (Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and IPPAC (Independent Power Producers Advisory Council).
