Dilip Kumar dead at 98, leaves behind a golden legacy

The veteran Bollywood actor, Dilip Kumar has left the Indian cinema in tears with his passing on Wednesday 7th July. He was famous for his mega hit movies like Mughal-E-Azam, Saudagar & Naya Daur.

The entire Bollywood fraternity is in mourning this tragic news. Dilip Kumar’s official twitter account also confirmed the news of his passing.

His funeral will be held today at 5 PM. Dilip Kumar was suffering from advanced prostate cancer which had also affected other organs of his body. According to medical sources , “He had water in pleural cavity, and he suffered a kidney failure. He required blood transfusion multiple times.”

Dilip kumar did not confine himself to limited genres, he is popularly regarded as the “Tragedy King”. In his career of over 5 decades, he worked on various diverse roles. Dilip Kumar was born in the area of Qissa Khawani bazar, Peshawar on 11 December 1922. He was born to Ayesha Begum and Lala Ghulam Sarwar. He was was one of twelve siblings, and he later moved to #Mumbai in the late 1930s with his family. Dilip Kumar had visited Pakistan twice, to bring India and Pakistan together.

Dilip Kumar is the only Indian actor who received Pakistan’s highest civilian award, Nishan-e-Imtiaz.

Dilip Kumar was awarded with Pakistan’s highest civilian honour, the Nishan-e-Imtiaz [Order of Excellence].

He has received India’s highest award for artform, Dadasaheb Phalke in 1944. Dilip Kumar also received India’s second highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan in 2015. He is regarded as the only Indian actor to receive the maximum number of awards by the Guinness World Record. 

His death has left many Indian stars mourning. The actor, Sanjay Dutt posted that Dilip Kumar was like a father for him.

Condolences pour in from across the border

Condolences poured in from different Pakistan with PM Imran Khan tweeting about Dilip Kumar’s death where he also thanked .

PM Imran Khan further called him the greatest and the most versatile actor in another tweet.

Other leaders like Special Assistant to PM Zulfi Bukhari also remembered his work in a statement on twitter.
