PTI fears result manipulations urging voters to guard vote

Counting underway as nation awaits results

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday fearing result manipulation in different areas urged the voters to protect their vote by staying alert until the announcement of the results of the general election 2024.

“Counting is being stopped and results are being changed at many places ! Mainly Punjab. This is the second half of counting & the point when manipulation takes place while #PTI is clearly leading. Is the world watching ?,” said PTI Central Leader Sayed Zulfikar Abbas Bukhari in a post on X formerly Twitter.

“Pakistan! You have shown immense resilience in the face of unprecedented fascism in the past two years! You came out in massive, record numbers today! Now is the time to protect your vote! Do not let the mafia take away your victory! Do not leave before receiving Forms 45 & 47!,” the PTI said in a post on X.

According to Azhar Mashwani, the police chief in Punjab was told to “remove all from the offices of Returning Officers and manage the results”.

“All the candidates and polling agents are instructed by Imran Khan not to leave the RO office without the result,” he said urging the party workers to peacefully assemble outside the offices of their respective ROs.

Other political parties such as the PPP, Jamaat-i-Islami and PTI have also alleged rigging at some polling stations across the country and urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to take notice of the allegations.

In Karachi, the PPP claimed ballot papers were snatched from the electoral staff in the PS-105 constituency. The JI also alleged that MQM-P workers tried to sabotage voting at multiple polling stations. Videos circulating on social media also showed masked men entering polling stations in the metropolis.

From Balochistan, Akhtar Mengal wrote a complaint to the ECP, saying that the station house officer of Quetta had taken “900 votes”.

Similarly, former lawmaker Mohsin Dawar alleged “large-scale rigging” was underway in North Waziristan’s NA-40 (Tappi).

In Punjab, PTI-backed candidate for Sialkot Rehana Dar said the returning officer had refused to give her Form 45.

Currently, till the filing of the story, the independent candidates are clearly leading. However, the official results were yet to be arrived.
