Maryam Nawaz’s son Junaid Safdar says news about his divorce is true

High-Profile Divorce Announcement

Junaid Safdar, the son of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President and Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz, confirmed his divorce from his wife Aysha on Thursday in his Instagram story.

The couple, who had tied the knot in August 2021, chose to part ways after more than two years of marriage.
The marriage ceremonies had been conducted in both London and Pakistan, during a time when PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif was in self-imposed exile in the British capital.
Taking to Instagram, Junaid Safdar released a statement verifying the news, emphasizing the private nature of the matter and urging the media to respect their privacy.
He expressed his hope that the decision would bring peace to both parties and stated that he would not be elaborating further on the issue. “I wish her well,” he added, ending the statement on a note of goodwill.
“News about my divorce is true. This is an entirely private matter and I request the media to respect our privacy. I hope with this decision we find our peace In Shaa Allah. I will speak no further on this matter,” he wrote in the story.
Following the announcement, Junaid Safdar removed all pictures with his former wife from his Instagram account.
His former wife, Ayesha, is the daughter of Saif ur Rehman Khan, a prominent figure who served as the former head of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and is a successful businessman based in Qatar.
The divorce announcement has garnered significant attention, marking the end of a union that had largely stayed out of the public eye.
