Caretaker govt committed to its oath: Solangi

No deviation from constitutional role

Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi on Friday said the caretaker government was committed to its oath and would not deviate from the constitutional role.
He was talking to a private channel in which he said the primary mandate of the caretaker government was to assist the Election Commission of Pakistan in holding the election on the fixed date.
The minister said this was a “responsible and constitutional government” which would not resort to attack any constitutional office.
He said the previous government was formed by a political alliance and it would be better if they would explain their performance by themselves.
The government was fully cognizant to the increase in the prices of electricity, gas, and essential commodities, and has been taking measures to control the inflation, he maintained.
Solangi said oil prices witnessed an increase in the global market and the rupee was also devalued in past few days that created economic difficulties.
The government would present an economic recovery plan soon, he added.
“All the ministers included in the federal cabinet are experts in their respective fields,” the minister said while responding to a query.
He said the elected government would have the economy in better form as the caretaker government committed to economic progress and prosperity.
The minister said the government would have to take the measures including austerity that were imperative to stabilize the economy.
He said the May 9 tragedy was unprecedented which had weakened the democracy. No political party had taken such action in the past, he added.
These were the courts that would decide the fate of May 9 culprits, he said, adding the caretaker government would respect the decision.
“We do respect the law and constitution,” he remarked.
He said “justice is our salvation not the revenge.”
Solangi said statement of Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar about Pakistanis going abroad was taken out of context.
