Imran-Bushra exclusive meeting in jail

Imran Khan is in Attock Jail

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, who was arrested on August 5, had an exclusive meeting his wife Bushra Bibi for the first time since his detainment, his lawyer told the media on Thursday.
Bushra Bibi, accompanied by Imran Khan’s lawyers, arrived at Attock jail where she was granted exclusive permission to meet Khan.
The private one-on-one meeting extended for approximately an hour, excluding the presence of the ex-first lady’s legal advisors.
Despite the efforts of lawyers Naeem Panjotha, Sher Afzal Marwat, and Ali Ijaz Buttar, they were denied access to the deposed prime minister, who had been stripped of power through a parliamentary vote in April the previous year.
Naeem Panjotha said that Bushra Bibi obtained permission from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to meet Khan, validating the interaction. However, sources revealed that Khan’s legal team, despite presenting court orders, was barred from entering the jail premises.
The former prime minister’s arrest stemmed from his involvement in the Toshakhana case, wherein he was accused of misusing his 2018 to 2022 premiership to engage in the buying and selling of gifts in state possession that were acquired during overseas visits.
The cumulative value of these items was purportedly more than Rs140 million ($635,000). Imran Khan vehemently denies these allegations.
“Charges of misdeclaration of assets have been proven against the PTI chairman,” noted Additional and Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar in his ruling. As a result, Judge Dilawar sentenced the PTI chief to three years in prison, along with a fine of Rs100,000. He also dismissed Khan’s petition challenging the validity of the case.
Responding to this verdict, the political party led by the former prime minister has initiated legal action in the Supreme Court, seeking to nullify Judge Dilawar’s decision.
Additionally, the PTI has approached Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), requesting Khan’s transfer from Attock jail to Adiala jail.
