Junior Squash Champion called on COAS

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Friday met World Junior Squash Champion Mohammad Hamza Khan and vowed to support the young talent of the country which had great potential to make the nation proud.
Mohammad Hamza Khan was called on the Army Chief here at General Headquarters (GHQ), said a news release of the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The COAS felicitated the young champion for his outstanding achievement that brought honour for the country.
“Talents like you make us all proud and your great achievement also underscores the great potential that this nation has”, the COAS said.
“Army will continue to support the young talent in the country and promised to provide him full support in academic pursuit and sports,” he remarked.
He said, “our youth is the future of this country and with focus, dedication and hard work there is nothing that Pakistan cannot accomplish”.
Hamza Khan won the World Junior Squash Championship 2023 last month after beating Egypt’s Mohamed Zakaria, becoming the country’s first champion since 1986.
Hamza beat Zakaria 3-1 during the tournament that was held in Melbourne, Australia.
Peshawar boy Hamza has a strong squash pedigree. The former World No 14 Shahid Zaman is his maternal uncle and the legendary Qamar Zaman happens to be a close relation. Zaman’s late wife was the sister of Hamza’s father.
