Bykea, a ride-hailing, mobility, and delivery app, has confirmed that it is fully functional after experiencing a hacking incident earlier on Tuesday.
The company issued an apology for the inappropriate messages sent through the app, clarifying that it was a third-party communication tool that had been compromised.
Bykea assured users that the app had been restored and was now safe to use.
Users of the application had received inappropriate messages through notifications and when they attempted to use the app.
Bykea advised users to contact their helpline if they were experiencing any issues.
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Bykea, Rafiq Malik, stated that the company was conducting further investigations with the vendor to determine how they gained access to the API.
Malik assured users that tokens had been changed and APIs had been disabled temporarily, emphasizing that the app was now secure for use.
Bykea operates in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Wah, as mentioned on their Facebook page.
The COO revealed that the app is used by approximately 100,000 people daily and has garnered over five million downloads on the Google Play Store.
