Shoaib Akhtar rules out second marriage in life

One is enough

In a recent guest appearance on Hafiz Ahmed’s podcast, former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar discussed his thoughts on second marriages and his commitment to his wife.
When asked if he would consider remarrying, Akhtar expressed his belief in the significance of staying dedicated to one’s spouse. While acknowledging that Islam permits multiple marriages, he personally feels that once someone is attached to a partner who has left their family for them, it is essential to reciprocate by being kind and compassionate towards that person.
Akhtar stated, “One is enough. People can do it if they want to. I believe once you’re attached to somebody and that somebody has left their house for you, then we should also leave many things for her and be nice and kind to her.” He further emphasized the importance of having a strong character and becoming an inspiration for one’s spouse.

Reflecting on how he met his wife, Rubab Khan, Akhtar shared that their families had the opportunity to spend time together during their pilgrimage to Hajj. It was during this period that his mother expressed her desire to arrange the marriage between Akhtar and Khan. Being respectful and never refusing any of his mother’s wishes, Akhtar agreed to the union.

Although Akhtar considers himself quite liberal, he noted that his wife holds more conservative values. Out of respect for her preferences, he refrains from sharing too many details about their personal lives on social media and other public platforms. He emphasized that he fully supports his wife’s choice to maintain privacy.
Akhtar and Khan got married in 2014, towards the end of Akhtar’s successful cricketing career. The couple is blessed with two sons.
