Upon release from jail, Qureshi projects himself to be ‘flagbearer of Justice’

Flag of justice in my hands today

A few moments after his release from Adiala Jail, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party spoke to media persons where he projected himself to be flagbearer of justice.
His comments are being perceived in context of Imran Khan’s earlier statement in which he called Shah Mahmood Qureshi as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s next in line in case he was arrested.
“The flag of justice is in my hand today and I am a part of a movement that wants to see a free Pakistan,” he said while addressing the media outside the jail
Qureshi, who was arrested last month on various charges, including inciting violent protests, expressed his intention to meet with PTI Chief Imran Khan on Wednesday to discuss his the current political situation in the country.
Qureshi’s arrest followed Imran Khan’s detention in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9.
Although the Islamabad High Court ordered Qureshi’s release on May 18, his release was delayed due to his reluctance to provide an undertaking to refrain from engaging in unruly protests. Subsequently, he was taken into custody by Punjab police outside Adiala Jail on May 23 after detention orders were issued by the Rawalpindi deputy commissioner.
Today, the Lahore High Court’s (LHC) Rawalpindi bench ordered Qureshi’s immediate release and nullified his detention orders.
Qureshi expressed his gratitude to God, his family, the PTI, the courts, and his legal team for their efforts in securing his release.
He vowed to continue working for justice and expressed his concerns about innocent individuals who remain incarcerated.
He pledged to pursue their cases in consultation with the legal team. Concluding his statement, Qureshi declined to answer further questions but assured PTI supporters not to lose hope, emphasizing that after every night, there is a dawn.
The LHC’s Rawalpindi bench set aside Qureshi’s detention orders, prohibiting the police from arresting him in any other case related to the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
The court also directed Qureshi to submit a bond to the Rawalpindi district magistrate and stated that he should not be detained under the provisions of the Punjab MPO for past delinquency.
