Pervaiz Elahi arrested in Lahore

Elahi's son reaffirmed commitment to PTI

Punjab caretaker Information Minister Amir Mir has confirmed the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, by the Anti-Corruption Establishment in Lahore.
Mir stated that Elahi, who was “wanted,” in cases, was apprehended with the assistance of the police while allegedly attempting to escape.
According to Mir, Elahi’s arrest came after his bail was dismissed in a corruption case. The minister further noted that had Elahi not left his residence on the day of his arrest, he might have evaded capture for a few more days.
When asked about Elahi’s son, Moonis Elahi, Mir revealed that he was also wanted by the authorities. Mir claimed that there had been regular reports of Moonis Elahi being summoned but failing to appear, stating that he was currently in Europe.
Shortly after his father’s arrest, Moonis Elahi, a prominent PTI leader, took to Twitter to assert his commitment to the party.
He emphasized that his father had consistently encouraged him to stand with Prime Minister Imran Khan, even in the face of potential arrests.
Moonis Elahi stated that false cases were being levied against his father and affirmed their unwavering support for the PTI.
Amir Mir while speaking to media assured that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi would be presented in court, and his legal team would be granted access to him following the court proceedings.
He mentioned that Elahi’s residence in Lahore had been cordoned off as part of the arrest strategy.
When Elahi attempted to leave in a vehicle, authorities intercepted him and requested permission to search the vehicle. However, resistance from those inside the car led to the police attempting to break the driver’s side window.
