Interior Minister Sanaullah on Tuesday leveling e serious allegations against Imran Khan for planning and executing May 9 arson and vandalism said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman should be tried in the military courts.
In an interview with a private channel, he accused Imran of personally planning the attacks on military installations prior to his arrest on May 9, and asserted that “there is evidence to substantiate this claim”.
When asked if Imran would be tried in a military court, Sanaullah replied affirmatively, stating, “Absolutely, why shouldn’t it. The program that he made to target the military installations and then had it executed, in my understanding, it absolutely is a case of military court.”
Sanaullah further accused Imran of orchestrating the May 9 riots, claiming that the planning and preparation were initiated by Imran himself.
He emphasized, “He carried it all out. He is the architect of all this discord,” adding that there is documented evidence, including tweets and messages, to support these allegations.
The Punjab Police previously made similar claims, stating that Imran Khan and his close aides coordinated efforts to storm the residence of the Lahore corps commander and other public buildings.
According to a geo-fencing report, over 400 calls were detected between Imran Khan, senior PTI leaders, and the rioters, allegedly inciting them to move towards the military officer’s residence in Lahore Cantt and other sensitive locations. The investigation revealed that all the rioters were in contact with PTI’s top leadership, based in Zaman Park.
These accusations against Imran Khan and the ongoing investigations have raised significant concerns regarding security and political stability in the country. The developments surrounding this case will undoubtedly have far-reaching consequences on the political landscape of Pakistan.
