ISPR Reported The Martyrdom Of A Pakistani Soldier In Central African Republic

The media wing of the Pakistan Army announced the martyrdom of a soldier who was killed while serving in the United Nations mission in the Central African Republic (CAR).

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the funeral prayers of Havaldar Muhammad Shafiq will be held in his hometown of Mian Channu in Khanewal. Muhammad Shafiq left behind his wife and three sons. 

As per an official statement, the soldier joined the UN mission force in February and, “The soldier was buried with full military honors.”

Furthermore, it was said that “He was a brave and dedicated member of the Pakistan contingent [and was] ensuring the protection of civilians in CAR and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian assistance.”

According to the ISPR, 162 Pakistani peacekeepers have died thus far as part of the global mission for international peace and security.

Lance Naik Adil Jan embraced martyrdom while serving in Sudan as part of a UN peacekeeping operation in September. He was a member of the UN mission in Darfur, where he was in charge of protecting people and coordinating humanitarian aid in the region.

Lance Naik Tahir Ikram was killed in a vehicle accident in Sudan’s South Darfur region in February.
