COAS Applauds HIT’s Efforts To Achieve Self-Sufficiency

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), paid a visit to Heavy Industries Taxila(HIT) on Tuesday (9th November).

According to an ISPR press release, the COAS was informed on HIT capabilities, the status of ongoing projects, and recently completed Balancing, Modernization, and Revamping (BMR) steps for HIT production units.

The COAS toured HIT’s facilities, where he saw newly developed enhanced protection solutions and remote weapon systems for tanks, an indigenously developed 155 mm artillery gun barrel, ballistic and improvised explosive device (IED) protection of military vehicles, as well as the rebuilding and upgrading of tanks and armored personnel carriers (APCs).

The Army Chief also saw ongoing R&D projects and praised HIT’s efforts to achieve self-reliance through indigenization in modern technologies such as tanks, artillery guns, and vehicle ballistic defense solutions.

The COAS expressed his confidence in HIT’s expertise and praised the Chairman, officers, and workforce for their dedication to transforming HIT into a modern defense manufacturing industry capable of meeting the needs of the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) while adhering to international standards.

COAS remarked, “Self-reliance in defense production is the hallmark of any country and we are proud of the milestones achieved towards that end.”
