Today Marks The 144th Anniversary Of Allama Iqbal’s Birth

The 144th birthday of national poet Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal will be commemorated on Tuesday (9th November) with patriotic enthusiasm and devotion.

The day will begin with special prayers for the departed soul, as well as prayers for national progress and prosperity throughout the mosques, according to the details.

The president of Pakistan posted on Twitter and said, “My favorite message from Allama Iqbal in today’s dialect: Oil, Brick, and Mortar may not but, Information, Intelligence & Wisdom will take you to the stars.”

On November 9, 1877, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal was born in Sialkot. His unique contributions to reawakening Muslims throughout the Indian subcontinent through awe-inspiring poetry and political savvy unified them in the fight for a distinct country where they could openly pursue Islamic principles.

His momentous talk at Allahabad in 1930 gave identity to pre-partition India’s Muslim traditions and ideals.

Iqbal’s contribution to Pakistani politics, as well as his thought on socio-religious issues in Muslim cultures, is still widely recognized and read, not just in Pakistan but around the world.

He is recognized as a national poet, and known as:

  • Muffakir-e-Pakistan (thinker of Pakistan).
  • Shair-e-Mashriq (poet of the east).
  • Hakeemul Ummat (doctor of the Muslim ummah).

It is important to note that his poetry successfully instills enriched Khudi lessons and national identity preservation in Muslims, particularly among the youth.

He is also regarded as one of the most influential people in literature, having written works in both Urdu and Persian. His best works are:

  • Asrar-e-Khudi.
  • Payam-i-Mashriq.
  • Bang-i-Dara.
  • Bal-i-Jibril.
  • Zarb-i Kalim.
  • Armughan-e-Hijaz.

As per Pakistan’s Embassy of Kyrgyzstan, “There is a street named after Iqbal in Heidelberg, Germany to commemorate his stay there.”

He is also known as the “poet of the East.” His fans and followers are spread across the globe, and they will commemorate Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s birthday with enthusiasm and zeal today (Tuesday).
