The steering committee of the federal government met for the second time on Monday evening (1st September), and it has been conveyed that the government is considering releasing Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Saad Rizvi.
The administration is seriously examining how to de-escalate the situation so that its efforts are not wasted, and a long-term solution is established in the aftermath of the agreement between the government and the TLP.
Punjab law minister Basharat Raja, the Punjab interior secretary, and the Punjab home secretary formed up a committee led by state minister Ali Muhammad Khan. The committee looked at how the government should move forward with implementing the TLP agreement, the details of which are being kept under wraps.
The second meeting of the steering group for the execution of the TLP agreement was held in Lahore, according to the state minister. Mr. Khan tweeted, “Major decisions have been taken and implementation mechanism devised. Results will be visible from tonight.”
To allow the single bench orders concerning Mr. Rizvi’s release to be executed, the government must dismiss its appeal before a Lahore High Court division bench.
Punjab government spokesman Hasaan Khawar said, “There are certain issues that can only be resolved through the legal process.”
