Egg Thrown At The French President During A Food Fair

During a visit to an international food trade expo in Lyon, French President Emmanuel Macron was hit on the shoulder by an egg that was thrown at him on Monday (27th September).

A video of the event, which shows Macron striding through the crowd while an egg bounces off him without breaking, has gone viral on social media.

Two bodyguards can be seen in the video who immediately get closer to the president to protect his face and shoulders. In the video, it can also be seen that the bodyguards take away a man from the scene.

Macron, during this scene, said, “if he has something to tell me, then he can come.”

Authorities have not disclosed any information about the man’s identification or motivations.

Before this incident, once a man slapped Macron in the face when he was meeting the people in a tiny town in southeastern France in June. Macron then denounced this act and stupid and the man was ordered to serve 4 months in jail.

The slap elicited widespread sympathy for France’s president from legislators across the ideological spectrum. Macron, following the steps of his predecessors, likes to meet and greet the public and enjoys spending time with them.
