The statement released said, “Security forces conducted IBO (intelligence-based operation) in Asman Manza, South Waziristan District on the reported presence of terrorists.”

The media wing of the military noted that 5 terrorist groups were killed in the operation, and “During an intense exchange of fire, seven soldiers embraced shahadat (martyrdom).”

Soldiers martyred in the Bajaur post-attack

Two Pakistan Army personnel were killed last week in an improvised explosive device (IED) strike in North Waziristan. According to the ISPR, the IED exploded when security troops were conducting a clearance operation in the district’s Dosalli region.

In August, three Levies men were killed and several more were injured when their vehicle collided with a landmine in Baluchistan’s Ziarat district.

Last month, the army repulsed an attack on a military installation in the Bajaur district by attackers from within Afghanistan, killing up to three of them and wounded four more.
