Met Gala 2021: Who Wore What

The Met Gala, also known as the Met Ball, which took place on Monday (13 September) is an event in which many celebrities display their magnificent and showy fashion with dresses that have unique designs. It is essentially the fashion world’s equivalent of the Oscars, with designers, models, musicians, and Hollywood actors all mingling on the red carpet.

The event is presented at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Met) in New York City to promote the Met’s Costume Institute.

Why is it held?

The Met Gala is organized to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. This year, the Gala returned after being canceled last year due to the restrictions imposed due to the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

This year’s theme

The theme for this year’s Met Gala is “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” and the looks for this theme were inspired by everything. The first half of the two-part exhibition will “examine American fashion,” from sportswear to modern designers.

Part two of the exhibit, titled “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” will open in the American Wing on May 5. It will exhibit apparel from the 18th century to the present day and will investigate the evolution of American fashion by providing narratives that relate to the rich and deep histories of those areas.

Popstar Billie Eilish co-hosted the ball with tennis player Naomi Osaka, actor Timothée Chalamet, and poet Amanda Gorman.
