Sheikh Rashid: Humanitarian crises are expected

Interior Minister Sheik Rashid Ahmed on Sunday (September 12) said that it would be unrealistic to think that in eight days Afghanistan will be as affluent as any Scandinavian country and warned that suspending Afghanistan accounts might create a humanitarian crisis.

Sheikh Rashid said, “We should hope that Taliban would take steps and would not allow terrorist outfits Tehreek-I-Taliban Pakistan or Daesh to use their land as they had pledged.”

Sheikh Rashid, while speaking at a press conference said the chief of intelligence of eight countries visited Pakistan on Sunday. In addition, he added that no desire of India can be fulfilled in the present state.

Furthermore, he added that the Indian media is spreading baseless allegations on the Pakistan Amy regarding Panjshir Valley. It is important to be noted down that Pakistan’s sole interest in Afghanistan was in development, peace, and stability.

Sheikh Rashid also added that the Pakistan Army was protecting the borders of the country to prevent the chances of any terrorist activity. He added, “We facilitated Mullah Baradar to sit with Americans at the negotiation table for the cause of peace.”

The Interior Minister added that previously diplomatic jets used to request to fly within Pakistan’s airspace, but now, because of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s effective foreign policy, they have requested to land in the country.

Furthermore, Pakistan assisted in the evacuation of 8,000 – 10,000 foreigners who were brought into the country from Afghanistan so that they may be sent to their homelands or wherever they wish to go. A 21-day visa had been issued by the interior ministry and, people who could not fly to their homeland due to flight delay were granted a 1-month visa.

Sheikh Rashid said that all the Afghans who entered Pakistan illegally have been sent back and till now, no refugee camps have been set across the country.

According to the minister, the enmity between the United States and China was also causing challenges for neutral countries such as Pakistan.

Sheikh Rashid said that the decision of Afghanistan is entirely dependent on Afghans and Pakistan will not interfere in their affairs and will also not allow others to interfere.

Imran Khan has only wanted peace in Afghanistan, according to the interior minister, and the Prime Minister has been in constant contact with china and Russia, and he is also expected to meet their leaders on September 17.
