Chief Minister Usman Buzdar inaugurated projects for historic Fort Munro

On Sunday (29 August), Chief Minister Usman Buzdar visited the tourist spot, Fort Munro, in DG khan. Mr. Buzdar was escorted by Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, Minister of State Zartaj Gul, Punjab Land Record Authority Chairman Sardar Ahmad Ali Dreshak, Adviser Hanif Pitafi, Tourism Adviser Asif Mahmood, and other dignitaries.

The CM Usman Buzdar launched eight different projects of Rs900 million in Fort Munro for the development and progress of the area including Solar Lights Network at Fort Munro which finished at a cost of Rs100 million, 5 kilo-meters long Fort Munro to Langar Khandsar link Road which cost around Rs290 million, up-gradation and provision of basic facilities at the Fort, cost around Rs50 million and restoration project of historic buildings and annex in Fort Munro which cost Rs50 million.

He also inaugurated the Fort Munro Water Supply Scheme, which would be completed with a cost of Rs90 million. This project would help resolve the problem of drinking water at Fort Munro. He also launched a new project to promote tourism at Koh-e-Suleman which would cost Rs100 million, Rescue 1122 station cost Rs550 million, and up-graduation of high school that would cost around Rs30 million.

Mr. Buzdar was informed on different projects including Fort Munro Cadet College and Welfare Complex. The Director-General Development Authority of Koh-e-Sulaiman also informed Mr. Buzdar about the progress of different ongoing development projects in the area.

Later, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and other dignitaries planted Chanar, Ashoka, and Palm trees in the area under the Clean and Green Punjab campaign.

Mr. Usman Buzdar Stated that the Koh-e-Suleman Development Authority had been operated. He added that Rs5.70 billion funds had been reserved for the development and welfare of the people of the area to resolve the basic problem, including water supply and road network. He also added the Punjab government had given 100 acres for the Fort Munro cadet college.

CM Buzdar said another cadet college for the children of Koh-e-Sulaiman would be established within the area for that a feasibility study was being conducted.

Koh-e-Sulaiman children would be given free admission to the cadet college along with boarding and other expenses.

CM also said that Fort Munro would be declared an urban area by a master plan. He pledged for the installation of RO (reverse osmosis) plants, electricity in deprived areas of Sakhi Sarwar to Tuman Buzdar and Tuman Leghari. He also promised to open a veterinary hospital at Tuman Leghari and a hospital in the Rakhni area of Bharkhan Balochistan.
