Covid-19 vaccination is mandatory for railway passengers

On Thursday (2nd September) 2021, Pakistan Railways announced that unvaccinated people would not be allowed to board the trains after15th September.

A spokesperson of Pakistan railways said that the passengers should get their first dose of the covid-19 vaccine to get the train tickets after the 15th of September.

However, he also said that after 15th October 2021, only fully vaccinated people would be allowed to travel on trains. He added that those who were found onboard without vaccination certificates would be punished strictly. The spokesperson stated that the Pakistan railway is taking strict actions which would encourage more people to get vaccinated.

Earlier, the Pakistan railway department had stated that that unvaccinated people above the age of 20 would not be allowed to board the trains from 1 January 2022. However, the date has been reset to 15 October.

He also stated that after 1st September 2021, the railway department would charge 10 percent extra on train tickets from unvaccinated people.

Meanwhile, the National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) has also announced to ban the travel of unvaccinated people on motorways after 15th September. The National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) announced that people would not be allowed to travel on motorways without carrying their vaccination certificates with them.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had already banned domestic air travel for unvaccinated people while teachers, students, and public servants have been asked to get vaccinated too.
