Remembrance of the War of 1965

On the night of 6th September, India had without a formal declaration of war, crossed the international border and attacked the Lahore front. This was in reaction to stop the onslaught by the Pakistan military in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) in 1965. This action by India started a war that went on for seventeen days, with great losses on both sides. The bravery and valor shown by the Pakistani soldiers and fighters have always been one of the greatest memories to celebrate.

Among all those commemorated are the martyrs, who laid down their lives for this country, and those who fought and survived to keep the legacy alive. Many of whom received honorable awards for their services to this nation. The martyred national heroes include Major Aziz Bhatti who was presented the Nishan-e-Haider for his gallant sacrifice in the defense of the Lahore Bedian area.

Therefore, to renew our national spirits and remember the efforts, loss, and pain that our ancestors have suffered to get here, Defense Day embodies a Pakistanis pledge to remain steadfast, strong, and unafraid, come what may.

Prime Minister’s Address to the Nation

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan addressed the country today on the account of 6th September 2021, which has been dubbed the National Defense Day in celebration and tribute to the war of 1965 and the sacrifices given during it by the armed forces and people from all walks of life.

Just as every year Pakistan pays homage to those who lost their lives fifty-six years ago fighting against the Indian troops and even now the animosity between the two countries remains like the fish in the sea.

Prime Minister with reference to this divide and antagonistic relations promises in his statement that the government “will continue to expose the real face of radicalized India” due to this government continuing efforts on the worlds stage, the international community has been convinced that Kashmir’s hostile occupation by India must come to an end. He had said, “The saner international elements do recognize our role for peace.”

Although, he did add that this preferment of peace should not be taken as a sign of weakness and instead, “it must be reciprocated for the sake of economic wellbeing and peoples’ prosperity in the entire region.”

Commending the bravery the PM had said, “Such a display of national unity galvanized the already spirited armed forces in their fearless fight against the enemy, which has no parallel in history,”

He also added, “We salute the valiant sons of soil for laying down their precious lives in defense of their country. We pay homage to the families of Shuhada for sacrificing their loved ones in the defense of the motherland.”

In addition, he stated that enmity still exists and that India has yet to come to accept that Pakistan was a separate nation. He had said that India had been involved in, “The two-decades-long war against terror, creating disturbances and carrying out sabotage activities inside Pakistan or new waves of unleashed propaganda through cyber warfare and spy software.”

“On this day we not only condemn those involved in such heinous acts but also pay special tributes to our valiant armed forces who have rendered invaluable sacrifices for our motherland.”
