“Thankful to Pakistan and others supporting evacuation efforts”: US Senator Van Hollen

A few days ago, the US had contacted Pakistan and several other countries, such as Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, etc. to aid in their deportation from Afghanistan.

American Senator, Chris Van Hollen, thanked Pakistan and various other countries for helping American nationals and other individuals to evacuate from Afghanistan. Following the Taliban takeover, many Afghan citizens, American nationals, and others began fleeing the country to escape from being under their regime. Senator Hollen also added that he would do everything in his power to provide both American nationals and Afghan partners with a safe place to reside in.

On a recent phone call between Senator Van Hollen and Pakistani Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan on Monday, Van Hollen thanked the efforts made by the Pakistani government to provide the Americans with a safe refuge while Asad M. Khan briefed the Senator with Pakistan’s take on the urgency with which there should be a political settlement within Afghanistan.

The previous week, US Senator Lindsey Graham also tweeted and publicly thanked Pakistan for its efforts during these times. However, he further went on to state that Pakistan was a “nuclear-armed” and “complicated” nation.

US Secretary Antony Blinken recently had a telephonic conversation with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, regarding the entire ongoing situation of Afghanistan and how to carry out their roles to help pacify the state of affairs.

According to certain sources, Shah Mahmood Qureshi had assured Blinken that Pakistan, the USA, and all other international partners would work together in order to ensure stability and peace in Afghanistan. He had further discussed and stressed the importance of an economic relationship to be maintained between Afghanistan and the US even after the evacuation.

State Secretary Blinken also contacted foreign ministers of China, India, Turkey, Russia, and Britain to scrutinize the evolving circumstances within the state of Afghanistan after the Taliban had captured Kabul, and to attain their advice on what course of action should be globally taken.
