Amir Dogar nominated for NA Speaker’s slot

Nomination on Imran Khan’s directives

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) nominee for Prime Minister Omer Ayub on Tuesday announced that the party’s founder Imran Khan had officially nominated Amir Dogar for the crucial position of National Assembly speaker.

Simultaneously, Junaid Khan has been selected as the nominee for the deputy speaker role.

Omar Ayub made the announcement in a media talk following Imran Khan’s meeting with him and other PTI leaders at Adiala Jail. Dogar where he is currently serving jail sentences in different cases.

Dogar had previously served as the chief whip in the National Assembly during the PTI government, and also held the position of special assistant to the prime minister on political affairs during Imran’s tenure.

Notably, Dogar was among several PTI leaders arrested in the aftermath of the May 9 riots.

Having emerged victorious in the February 8 general elections from Multan’s NA-149 constituency, Dogar has once again been appointed as the PTI chief whip in the lower house of Parliament.

Meanwhile, Junaid Khan, Imran’s nominee for the National Assembly deputy speaker, secured victory in the polls from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Malakand district.

During a media briefing today, Omer Ayub highlighted Junaid’s long-standing dedication to the PTI, emphasizing his unwavering allegiance despite facing numerous challenges. Ayub expressed confidence, stating, “God willing, the PTI will form governments.”
