PTI for probe into Rawalpindi’s ex-commissioner claim regarding rigging

The mother of all rigging

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday made a passionate appeal for an investigation into the claims made by Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha regarding the manipulation of the 2024 election results.

During a press conference in Islamabad, PTI’s Gohar Ali Khan emphasized the unprecedented nature of the commissioner’s press conference, stating that it was delivered “according to his conscience”.

Gohar Ali Khan urged the formation of a judicial commission to thoroughly examine the allegations and conduct an inquiry, with the results being made public.

PTI leader Omar Ayub Khan, speaking at the same press conference, denounced the alleged rigging against his party as “the mother of all rigging” and categorically rejected it.

Omar Ayub Khan claimed that the 70,000 vote lead mentioned by Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha actually belonged to PTI, insisting that PTI candidates should be informed of the original results.

He also accused MQM-P of stealing 18-19 seats in Karachi through rigging and demanded a reversal of this process.

Omar Ayub Khan, PTI’s candidate for prime minister, called for a judicial inquiry with independent judges, emphasizing that individuals named by the Rawalpindi commissioner should not be part of the investigation.

Addressing other political parties, Omar Ayub Khan urged them to accept the people’s mandate, emphasizing that the majority of voters supported Imran Khan as prime minister for a better Pakistan.

He accused PPP and PML-N of benefiting from rigging in the Feb 8 polls and noted Fazlur Rehman’s admission that the vote of no-confidence against PTI was an engineered process, considering it a significant endorsement.

Omar Ayub Khan highlighted that 30 million people voted for PTI and Imran Khan, trusting them to lead Pakistan out of its challenges and onto the right path.
