JUI-F has ideological differences with PTI: Fazl

Our conflict is with their minds not bodies

Jammiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday ruled out any possibility of coalition with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in either opposition or government.

“Our conflict is with their minds, not their bodies. We hope this issue will be resolved,” he said while addressing a Press Conference here.

Addressing queries about subservience to political parties, he clarified, “We are not the government’s coalition partners.”

Fazlur Rehman extended an invitation to PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif to join the opposition benches.

He claimed, “Election results clearly showed that bribes were taken from successful and unsuccessful candidates. Some were even given entire assemblies in return for money.”

Expressing concerns about the Election Commission of Pakistan, Fazlur Rehman alleged, “The electoral watchdog’s role from day one has been dubious.” He highlighted the rejection of petitions filed by JUI-F’s candidates.

Providing a schedule of upcoming meetings, Fazlur Rehman mentioned, “On Feb 22, we will hold a meeting with the JUI-F’s local general council, on Feb 25 in Balochistan, Feb 27 in KP, and in Karachi and Lahore on March 3 and March 5.”

Committing to parliamentary engagement, he noted, “We will play our role but with reservations. We want a National Assembly truly represented by the people without intervention from the establishment.”

Accusing anti-Islamic elements of conspiracies, Fazlur Rehman stated, “Defeating the JUI-F through poll rigging was a conspiracy. Our fault is that we played our role in mending Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, not acceptable to the US. We spoke against Israeli actions in Gaza and supported Hamas.”

Emphasizing the JUI-F as an ideological force, he concluded, “Our workers are determined to start a movement based on our history and sacrifices. If the establishment believes elections were free and fair, then the army’s May 9 narrative has been buried.”
