SC Justice Minallah heckled in streets of London

PTI’s UK chapter condemns incident

Justice Athar Minallah of the Supreme Court was heckled in the streets of London by the people of Pakistani origin allegedly associated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Videos circulating on social media had shown that the justice was surrounded by the hecklers who chanted slogans in support of PTI and against the army.

The judge, who was a guest at the ‘Future of Pakistan Conference’ at the London School of Economics, was escorted to a car amidst the commotion.

However, the party had clarified that those who were involved in the incident did not represent the party.

The UK chapter of the PTI issued a strong condemnation following the heckling of the justice Minallah.

PTI UK’s official account shared a statement by Jahanzeb Khan, the senior vice president of the party’s UK chapter.

The post, also endorsed by PTI’s official account and Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan, expressed strong condemnation for the treatment towards Justice Minallah. Jahanzeb emphasized that the individuals involved did not represent PTI, and PTI UK disapproved of such behavior.

The statement pointed out that some individuals, labeled as ‘PTI supporters’ by certain journalists sympathetic to the N league in London, were not genuine PTI supporters.

Jahanzeb accused these individuals of collaborating with N league journalists to orchestrate situations creating commotion during visits of Pakistani government officials to London.

He stressed that protests by overseas Pakistanis and genuine PTI supporters only occurred under the official call of PTI UK and its regional bodies.

Taimur Saleem Khan Jhagra, a member of PTI, emphasized that there was no justification for heckling Justice Athar Minallah in London and called for putting an end to such behavior.
