Ashrafi Calls OIC Summit A Success For Pakistan

Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, the Prime Minister’s Special Aide on Religious Harmony in the Middle East, and Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council said the successful summit of the OIC foreign ministers’ council demonstrates the Muslim Ummah’s faith and trust.

Ashrafi, while talking to visiting ulema of different religious schools of thought and ambassadors of different Islamic countries said, “We are grateful for the leadership of all the Muslim countries and particularly of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as the financial assistance of one billion Saudi Riyals for Afghanistan and further assistance from other Muslim countries will help alleviate the sufferings of the Afghan people.”

According to him, the successful summit of the OIC Foreign Ministers’ Council on the situation in Afghanistan is a significant achievement for Pakistan and its leadership.

Furthermore, Ashrafi added, “We felicitate Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the armed forces of Pakistan, and the country’s security institutions on the successful summit of an extraordinary session of OIC foreign ministers’ council on Afghanistan.”

He stated that the Pakistan Ulema Council, as well as all political and religious organizations in the nation, are grateful to the Muslim world for their support for the Afghan struggle.

In light of the current situation in Afghanistan, he stated that the Islamic world and world leaders should step forward to assist the Afghan people and speak with the Afghan interim government if any country has concerns or reservations so that their concerns can be addressed through dialogue with the Afghan leadership.

Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement at the OIC foreign ministers’ conference, he added, was a reflection of the Muslim Ummah as well as Pakistan.
