Petroleum prices could drop down by Rs10 per liter from December 16 if the government accepts the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority’s (Ogra) figures, sources said on Tuesday.
According to sources, Ogra has proposed a price cut of Rs8 to Rs10 per liter for petroleum goods. The ultimate price of petroleum goods, on the other hand, will be announced after the government has completed its tax assessment.
The news comes at a time when crude oil prices have been falling around the world.
Last month, the government announced that, in accordance with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s decision, fuel prices will remain unchanged from December 1 to 15.
“Petrol prices will remain unchanged at Rs145.82 per liter, while diesel prices will remain steady at Rs142.62 per liter,” the statement stated. Furthermore, it said, “Kerosene oil and light diesel prices would remain unchanged at Rs116.53 and Rs114.07 per liter, respectively.”
However, Shaukat Tarin, the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance and Revenue, announced earlier this week that, as a result of the global price drop, fuel prices in Pakistan will be reduced as well.
