Officials from the Islamic Emirate have stated that the United States’ assistance in defeating Daesh in Afghanistan is unnecessary and that the Islamic Emirate can contain Daesh on its own.
On Sunday (10 October), Zabihullah Mujahid, deputy minister of the Information and Culture Ministry, told the media that Islamic Emirate operations against Daesh cells are ongoing in several parts of the nation, with 19 Daesh militants dead and 16 others wounded thus far. Daesh, according to Mujahid, is a nuisance rather than a real threat.
Zabihullah said, “Daesh is a headache, not a serious threat and it will be curbed. Most Daesh members have been suppressed, their important hideouts have been discovered and we are after them.”
Meanwhile, media reports reveal that 17 explosions have occurred in five provinces since the former government’s collapse, with Daesh claiming responsibility for many of the attacks.
The findings also reveal that either Daesh has claimed responsibility, or the Islamic Emirate has attributed to Daesh for the explosives carried out in the following areas:
- 11 explosions in Nangarhar.
- 1 explosion in Parwan.
- 1 explosion in Kunar, and the.
- recent suicide attack in Kunduz.
According to the findings, over 600 individuals were killed or injured in these attacks, the majority of whom were civilians. In addition, 12 Islamic Emirate soldiers were injured in the bombings.
Mahdi Afzali, a university lecturer said, “If this situation continues, unfortunately, Daesh will become bolder and the international and regional competitions will continue in Afghanistan.” Meanwhile, some political officials have warned that if the threat posed by Daesh is ignored, the group will become stronger.
Ishaq Gailani, leader of the National Solidarity Movement of Afghanistan said, “The world should give a helping hand to the current government. Otherwise, the situation in Afghanistan will get worse than Syria.”
Sarwar Niazi, a former military officer said, “To some extent, prevention of Daesh will be difficult, especially for the new government.”
Suhail Shahen, the Islamic Emirate’s nominee for Afghanistan’s seat in the United Nations, has stated that the Islamic Emirate will not collaborate with the US in the war against Daesh in Afghanistan and that the Islamic Emirate can fight Daesh alone.
