Dr. Faisal: Mandatory For Students To Be Fully Vaccinated From November 30

Dr. Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health, has stated on Friday (8 October) that beginning November 30, complete vaccination will be required for all students (aged 12 and up) across the country.

The SAPM also stated during a news conference on Friday that beginning October 31, partial vaccination will be required for youngsters to attend their respective educational institutions, urging them to be vaccinated.

Furthermore, he said, “No one will be allowed to attend schools after November 30.”

According to the SAPM, children have suffered during the pandemic, with educational institutions reopening and closing in response to the coronavirus situation. In addition, SAPM said, “Their learning has also been affected.”

He emphasized the significance of vaccinating youngsters, underlining that the approved vaccinations are safe and will help prevent the virus’s spread.

The government said last month that it would begin vaccinating citizens aged 12 as part of an expansion of its immunization campaign. According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the Pfizer vaccine will be delivered to those under the age of 18.

Furthermore, the conference determined that immunocompromised individuals between the ages of 12 and 17 will be immunized with the Pfizer vaccine.

Meanwhile, the SAPM said that nearly 60 million people in Pakistan have been fully or partially immunized against Covid-19. According to Dr. Sultan, nearly 90 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccination have been provided across the country thus far.

Opening of educational institutes

The NCOC declared on Thursday (7 October) that all educational institutions will reopen for regular classes on October 11.

Asad Umer tweeted, “Based on the reduced level of disease spread and the launch of the school vaccination program, it has been decided in today’s NCOC meeting to allow all educational institutions to start normal classes from Monday the October 11.”

Pakistan reports less than 1,000 Covid-19 cases.

Meanwhile, after 912 persons tested positive, the country reported less than 1,000 instances for the first time in three months. A total of 45,619 tests were performed in the last 24 hours, with a positivity rate of 1.99 percent.

Furthermore, the virus claimed the lives of 26 more people in the country, bringing the total death toll to 28,058.

In the previous 24 hours, however, 1,633 people have recovered from the fatal infection. The overall number of recoveries has risen to 1,184,527 thus far.
