The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has asked the ROs to not to notify the official result for Islamabad’s two constituencies including NA-47 and NA-48.
PTI-backed independent candidate in NA-47 Shoaib Shaheen filed a petition against the returning officer (RO) and the district RO.
Shoaib Shaheen, in his petition, had argued that PML-N’s Tariq Fazal in lead according to the Form 47 but the Form 45 pronounced him winner.
The ECP issued a notice to the RO for a comprehensive report on the matter within three days. It also issued a notice to Fazal.
Meanwhile, PTI-backed candidate Syed Muhammad Ali Bokhari in his petition sought a recount in his constituency.
The electoral watchdog has directed the returning officer to submit a comprehensive report on a petition filed by Bokhari.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyer Shoaib Shaheen had already reached out the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday against the results.
Shaheen was defeated by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, who clinched the constituency by bagging 102,502 votes in the 2024 general elections that were held on February 8.
In NA-48 Independent Candidate Raja Khuram Shehzad Nawaz has won the election by securing 69,699 votes.
According to the unofficial result issued by the Returning Officer/ECP, his runner-up was Independent candidate Syed Muhammad Ali Bukhari, who bagged 59,851 votes.
