Bail of Zahir Jaffer’s Parents Denied By The Islamabad High Court

The bail pleas filed by Zahir Jaffer’s parents, Zakir and Asmat Jaffer, in the Noor Mukadam murder case, have been denied by the Islamabad High Court.

Justice Aamer Farooq announced the verdict and said “Asmat and Zakir will stay in jail until the case trial is completed.”

The police have been ordered by the court to conclude the case trial within eight weeks and to present all evidence in court.

Zahir Jaffer’s parents have been accused of attempting to conceal the murder to protect their son. The court reserved its decision on their bail petition at a hearing last week. The Noor Mukadam murder trial, according to Justice Farooq, will set a precedent for criminal trials in the country.

Suspects in the Noor Mukadam case

Zahir Jaffer is being imprisoned in Rawalpindi’s Adiyala jail. Last Monday, a judge set a date for Jaffer and 11 people to be indicted in the murder case. On October 6, Zahir, his parents, Therapy Works personnel, and workers will be formally charged with the crime.

The US embassy had previously sent a box to Zahir Jaffer via a courier service. The US embassy, they said, had broken diplomatic protocol by returning the gift. The gift had books, clothes, and other items, according to jail officials.

Case challan

After several delays, the police submitted the case challan in court on September 11. According to the report, Noor attempted to flee the crime scene several times. It has been stated in the case challan that “Her life could have been saved had the accomplices acted otherwise.”

Zahir was in constant contact with his father, as per the challan. Zahir’s father, during the incident, was in Karachi and he was aware of the murder Zahir had done, however, Zakir promised to “help him get out of the situation.”

Zahir’s father told him that “You need not worry, I can handle this, I am sending people to rescue you and to dispose of the dead body.” Zahir called 5 employees of Therapy Works so they can collectively dispose of the body.

When they attempted to enter the room, Zahir attacked them due to a misunderstanding. Amjad Mehmood, a worker, was hurt and sent to the hospital during this time.
