9 militants killed down as military foils Airbase attack in Minawali

No damage to PAF's functional operational assets

The security forces on Saturday killed nine terrorists while foiling an attack on the Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) training air base in Mianwali.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that all nine attackers were successfully neutralized by security forces during a combing and clearance operation. The operation was initiated promptly to eliminate any potential threats following the failed terrorist attack earlier in the day.

The ISPR said “combing and clearance operation at PAF Training Airbase Mianwali has been concluded and all nine terrorists have been sent to hell”.

It added that the successful operation was launched by security forces to eliminate any potential threat in the surrounding area following the cowardly and failed terrorist attack on the base this morning.

The military’s media wing said no damage has been done to any of the PAF’s functional operational assets, while only some damage was done to three already phased out non-operational aircraft during the attack.

Earlier reports from the ISPR indicated that the attack on the PAF training facility was thwarted due to the swift and effective response by the troops. During the initial encounter, three terrorists were killed, and the remaining three were cornered and isolated. The attackers caused damage to three grounded aircrafts.

The security forces conducted a comprehensive joint clearance and combing operation to completely clear the area. The ISPR reaffirmed the commitment of Pakistan Armed Forces to eradicate terrorism from the country.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar praised the Pakistan Air Force for thwarting the terrorist attack, expressing solidarity and support.

Former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, emphasizing the nation’s determination to preserve peace and stability.

Unfortunately, in a separate incident, 14 soldiers were martyred in a terrorist attack on a security forces convoy in Gwadar a day earlier.

The ISPR said that a sanitisation operation was being carried out in the area and perpetrators of “this heinous act will be hunted down [and] brought to justice”.

In another press release, the ISPR said Namaz-e-Janaza of Shuhadas who embraced shahadat on 3rd November in terrorist attack at Gawadar district, was offered at Pasni.

“Shuhada will be laid to rest with full military honour in their respective hometowns. Senior serving military and civil administration officers and troops attended the Janaza.”
