‘No Dancing in Jalsa’: Nawaz Sharif takes a witty dig at PTI’s women

Social media backlash followed sarcastic remarks

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Leader Nawaz Sharif in his first address on Saturday after 4-year exile took a witty dig at the women workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) that received a backlash at the social media networking sites.

“It takes ages to change habits. Everybody knows what happened to Jamima Khan (Imran Khan’s ex-wife) and Banzir Bhutto. Nothing changed so far as he (Nawaz Sharif) returned with same habit,” said a netizen Ahmed Warriach on X formerly Twitter.

He also attached a short video clip of the speech of Nawaz Sharif in which he says, “see how calmly our mothers and sisters are listening to the speech and there is no dancing on the beats of drums in our Jalsa” (public gathering).

Nawaz Sharif made these remarks in witty tone before just asking from the leadership on the stage that where is specifically stand of the women workers of Pakistan Muslim.

Seeking acknowledgment from the cheering crowd, Nawaz Sharif asked them whether they understood what he was saying, adding “If you understand then raise your voices.”

The PTI also took to the X to express its rage over the statement of Nawaz Sharif and wrote: “Nawaz Sharif continues to prove how disgusting he is, nothing else! The women of Pakistan are thousands time braver than this convicted criminal!.”

Nawaz Sharif returned the country after concluding his self-exile in London where he stayed almost 4 years after a breakdown of his relations with the powers that be especially after Dawn Leaks in 2016 that involved disclosure of a civil-military leadership’s meeting by his government.

Resultantly, he was barred from the politics and now his reentry presents completely different Nawaz Sharif who revised his narrative mainly projecting himself to be savior in the current state of Pakistan.
