Nawaz Sharif gets protective bail 2 days before his arrival in Pakistan

Nawaz Sharif to return Pakistan on Oct 21

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Leader Nawaz Sharif has received two big reliefs from the courts just two days before his arrival in the country from London which marked the end of his self-exile.

The IHC granted Nawaz Sharif protective bail in the Al-Azizia and Avenfield corruption references on Thursday, which was followed by suspension of his arrest warrant in the Toshakhana case by an accountability court.

The authorities have been barred from arresting Nawaz Sharif on his return to the country on October 21.

The PML-N leadership have commended the decision while others have their own concerns to express in public.

PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the decision, stating that Nawaz Sharif had been unjustly disqualified based on a “fictitious and fabricated story” and expressing hope that justice would prevail.

Nawaz Sharif had been declared a proclaimed offender by the IHC in the Avenfield and Al-Azizia cases due to non-compliance after he left for London for medical treatment in November 2019.

The PML-N supremo is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad from Dubai on October 21, where he will address a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan before leaving for Lahore after fulfilling legal formalities.

His legal team confirmed that Nawaz Sharif’s return plan remains unchanged.

In a related development, an accountability court suspended Nawaz Sharif’s arrest warrant in the Toshakhana case after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor raised no objections. The court stated that the arrest warrant would be restored if Sharif did not appear before the court on October 24.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) expressed its disappointment over the social media through its official handles on X, Facebook and others.

It called out the double standards of the justice when especially, the party chairman was put behind the bars.
