Fire erupts at Cafe in Bengaluru ahead of Pakistan-Australia match

Short-circuit suspected as a cause of explosion

A massive fire broke out on Wednesday at a cafe situated on Bengaluru’s Hosur Road, causing chaos and panic among the people present in the area, the Indian media has reported earlier in the day.

The reports suggested that the blaze, which erupted on the fourth floor of the cafe, led to one person sustaining injuries as they jumped from the building in an attempt to escape the flames.

Eyewitnesses described a scene of chaos as the fire rapidly engulfed the café, prompting swift response from local authorities.

A senior officer at the scene revealed that an initial blast was heard before the fire erupted. While the exact cause of the incident is still under investigation, authorities are considering a short circuit as a potential factor.

The incident sent shockwaves through the city, especially given its proximity to the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the designated venue for the upcoming World Cup match between Pakistan and Australia.

The stadium, where the high-stakes match is scheduled to take place, is approximately an hour’s drive from the café. This event has raised concerns about the safety measures in place as the city prepares to host the international cricket event.

The Pakistani cricket team is currently in Bengaluru for their fourth World Cup encounter. Despite a setback in their previous match against arch-rivals India, the Men in Green have emerged victorious in their matches against Netherlands and Sri Lanka.

The team was gearing up for a crucial face-off against Australia at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, the nearby fire incident has cast a shadow of concern over the upcoming match.
