PM rules out delay in polls

Election On Time

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Wednesday ruled out any possibility of delay in the polls, which he reaffirmed, would be held on time.
“I don’t see any possibility,” he said while responding to a query of anchorperson in a programme of private television channel regarding delay in the elections.
All political parties are allowed for electioneering, he said while reiterating his government’s commitment to ensure polls on time.
He said his government would not take responsibility if someone barred from the process under the law.
As regards the rupee which gained significant strength, he said writ of the state was established with stringent actions against the illegal activities including currency hoarding.
The premier said that the establishment of a democratic system within the political parties was essential for democracy in the country.
In response to a question, the Prime Minister, as a political figure, clarified that he had engaged with various political leaders prior to taking office but had never considered affiliating with any particular party. He emphasized his rights as a citizen to join a party or establish his own, though he chose not to do so.
Addressing allegations of the caretaker government favoring the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), he dismissed such claims, stating that political parties often create such perceptions before elections to garner public support.
Prime Minister Kakar commended the leadership qualities of Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, expressing confidence in Pakistan’s future under capable and dedicated leadership.
Regarding his relationship with the military leadership, he affirmed his comfort working with them and asserted that the caretaker government had the ultimate say in decision-making processes.
When asked about whether PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif was unfairly treated, the Prime Minister noted the perennial questions surrounding judicial interventions, acknowledging the diverse opinions different parties held on the matter.
Switching to the cipher issue, Kakar emphasized that it was a state asset and exposing it for purposes other than what was prescribed was unjustifiable. He pointed out that its legality was yet to be determined by the court.
The Prime Minister revealed that in the 2013 and 2018 elections, he cast his vote for PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) with the intention of finding solutions for the country’s challenges, such as infrastructure, economy, foreign policy, but not for attacking the GHQ, a report cited him as saying in the same interview.
