At New Delhi’s iconic venue, Captain Rohit Sharma played a masterclass giving a major boost to Indian side for a big clash against its arch rival Pakistan that in its last match chased the highest total of the tournament against Sri Lanka.
India propelled to a commanding eight-wicket triumph over Afghanistan in today World Cup clash while chasing a target of 273 runs.
Rohit Sharma, with his audacious strokeplay and unwavering determination, has not only anchored the Indian innings but also shattered records, leaving spectators in awe. His scintillating 131 runs off just 84 deliveries not only marked his seventh World Cup century but also eclipsed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record of six tons in World Cups.
The Delhi crowd roared as Rohit blazed his way to a century in just 63 balls, establishing a new benchmark for Indian cricketers in the World Cup arena.
Rohit’s innings, studded with 16 boundaries and five towering sixes, showcased his ability to dominate any bowling attack. His sheer class and finesse were on display as he surpassed 1,000 runs in World Cup matches, a testament to his consistency and prowess on the global stage.

While Afghanistan put up a commendable fight, posting a competitive total of 272-8 after opting to bat, the Indian bowlers, led by the exceptional Jasprit Bumrah, showcased their mettle.
