No grand opening ceremony for ICC Men’s cricket WC 2023: Report

Tournament to begin with Eng and Newzeland match

The highly anticipated ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, slated to kick off on October 5 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, will not feature its traditional grand opening ceremony, said a report published by website of a sports channel.
According to the report, the decision to this effect was announced recently.
“Usually, there is one for big tournaments. Renowned Bollywood stars like Ranveer Singh, Arijit Singh, Tamannaah Bhatia, Shreyas Ghoshal, and Asha Bhosle were supposed to attend the event. For the start of the 2023 World Cup in India, there were also plans for fireworks and a light show,” the report affirmed.
The tournament will commence with a thrilling match between England and New Zealand, the previous tournament’s champions. While the Captains’ Day event at the Narendra Modi Stadium is still on schedule, the absence of an opening ceremony marks a departure from the norm for such prestigious sporting events.
The Captains’ Day event, set to take place in Ahmedabad, will host all ten team leaders, including India’s captain Rohit Sharma. Just three days later, in Chennai, Team India will step onto the field for their first game against Australia, a team vying for its sixth World Cup victory, having previously secured the title five times.
One of the most eagerly anticipated clashes of the tournament is slated for October 14 in Ahmedabad when arch-rivals India and Pakistan face off. India enters the competition in top form, having clinched victory in the Asia Cup by defeating Sri Lanka.
They continued their winning streak by triumphing over Australia 2-1 in the first match of a three-game series on home turf.
In stark contrast, the Pakistani team faced a lackluster performance in the Asia Cup, further compounded by rumors of internal discord among their key players. The setback worsened when fast bowler Naseem Shah sustained an injury, adding to the team’s challenges. All eyes are now on how the Pakistani team will navigate these issues in their upcoming crucial match.
