Imran Khan shifted to to Adiala Jail

IHC orders his transfer from Attock Jail

Former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan, serving a three-year sentence in the Toshakhana case at Attock Jail, was shifted to Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail in line with the verdict of Islamabad High Court (IHC).
The arrival of the ex-premier at Adiala Jail was confirmed by the jail officials, mentioning that security measures around the facility have been tightened.
However, the PTI supporters turned out near the Islamabad Toll Plaza and showered petals on the police convoy transporting Imran Khan to Adiala Jail. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) posted a video in this regard on X formerly known as Twitter.

The transfer follows the Islamabad High Court’s decision, which was issued a day ago, in response to petitions seeking Imran Khan’s relocation to Rawalpindi.
The court observed that under-trial prisoners from all federal capital courts should be housed at Adiala Jail and directed the PTI chief’s transfer accordingly.
The court’s written verdict stated that Imran Khan’s current status is that of an under-trial prisoner and that since Islamabad lacks a prison of its own, such detainees must be held at Adiala Jail.
The court dismissed claims of security concerns and inadequate security at Central Jail Adiala, Rawalpindi, stating that there was no evidence to support these claims.
Imran Khan is entitled to the facilities provided to better-class prisoners, as per the IHC’s order.
Regarding the request for an “exercise machine,” the court stated that it cannot issue such directions and directed Imran Khan to submit an application to the Attock jail superintendent for consideration.
